Nobody objects to a woman being a good writer or sculptor or geneticist if at the same time she manages to be a good wife, good mother, good looking, good tempered, well groomed and unaggressive. ~ Leslie McIntyre

Why are weekends so short?

Well, I left you earlier telling you how great the morning was - I must've jinxed myself because it went downhill really fast. The girls started fighting. Jason and I started fighting. Linsey was being a total brat. Everyone was screaming at everyone and by the end no one knew WHY we were screaming. :( So we decided to have some lunch - hungry people make for grumpy people.

I had a simple yet satisfying sandwich with sliced apples. I baked a Morningstar Farms griller chik patty and put it on an Arnold Sandwich Thin with sliced red onion, sliced honey crisp apple, leaf lettuce, honey mustard and a tiny bit of good ole Sweet Baby Ray's. I cut up the rest of the apple to have on the side of my sandwich. I was feeling pretty good after that.

The rest of the fam must've been too because Regan went to sleep and everyone just chilled for a while. Then Linsey and I got ready for our afternoon at the ballet. Her dance school, Dimensions Dance Center, puts on a production of The Nutcracker every year. Linsey was too young to try out for this year's production, but I think after seeing it she's ready to try out for next year. :) If you're interested, I wrote an article about this very thing for one of my latest Examiner articles. Check it out and subscribe to my column (if you wanna!)
I apologize for the picture quality. Obviously the lights were turned down and flash photography was not allowed. We went with Linsey's friend, Nicole and her mother (also my friend :) ) Sarah. The girls have been taking dance together at Dimensions since Nicole joined Linsey about a year or so ago. I think they both had a good time.

The production was beautiful and I remembered what I love about The Nutcracker and the theater in general. It takes so much work to put a production together and you could tell that the girls had worked very hard for quite some time. I had a great time and I think the girls did too.

Once we got home Linsey and I split this...

and I made this all for me...

Now I'm making a chili cornmeal bake thingy for us to have for dinner. I took my go to vegetarian chili recipe, put the chili into a 9 X 13 pan, then made a box of Trader Joe's cornbread mix and poured the batter on top of the ENTIRE thing. I smell it baking away in the oven as I type. I am sooooo hungry and getting a migraine as well. Hopefully it's just from being hungry...

So here's dinner...

It was really yummy, but now my tummy is full and my head still hurts. Time to get things ready for tomorrow. Check back a little later for the Sunday Segment...Am I Passing on My Body Issues To My Daughter's?

We had a rough day here. Maybe there is something in the air. :)

I think kids just change moods with the weather!! We've been stuck inside more because of the cold - I hope that's all it is.
