Nobody objects to a woman being a good writer or sculptor or geneticist if at the same time she manages to be a good wife, good mother, good looking, good tempered, well groomed and unaggressive. ~ Leslie McIntyre

She's A Chef/Foodie in the Making...

Tonight has been a reasonably quiet night considering there's an extra girl in the house. Linsey's having a sleepover with her friend, Olivia and we haven't seen them for more than a few minutes all night. The came out of Linsey's room AFTER having dinner in there to see if the brownies I made were cool enough to eat and then they emerged a few minutes ago to kick Jason and I out of the living room so that THEY could watch tv. Lucky for them we're old (not really!) and are ready for bed...

Tonight we reheated the remaining pizza from lastnight in the oven to make sure that the crust stayed nice and crispy. The microwave would have destroyed that yummy cornmeal crunch.

I added a simple mixed green salad with a sweet dijon dressing tonight and I ate EVERY bit of this. It was so good.
Whenever Olivia spends the night we ALWAYS make brownies and tonight's no exception. The girls picked out a simple box mix of triple chunk, but instead of oil I substituted a container of Mott's Plus Pomegranate applesauce. It saves on the fat, makes the brownie (or cake) super moist and this time added a really great flavor too.
WIN!
I only had one...I swear!

What can I say - I'm a corner girl!
After brownies and handwashing (Regan was a mess) Jason and I curled up on the couch to watch another movie. On the line up tonight was Taken starring Liam Neeson. He was BADASS in this movie! If you haven't seen it yet - do so NOW! It was so good and being the mother of daughter's it really hit a cord with me. Anyway, that's my movie critique for the night.
:)
While watching the movie we got the pleasure of seeing Regan enjoy her new toy. Olivia's parents (Jeff & Jennifer) happen to also be good friends of ours (just don't tell Jeff I said that - don't want him to get a big head or anything) and they have been kind enough to pass quite a few things from their girls down to Regan since there's such an age difference between her and Linsey.
Tonight they gave us a kitchen set that Regan ALWAYS plays with at their house. Apparently their girls ahve both out grown it so passing it on to Regan was the perfect way to recycle it and a score for us!

She definitely takes after her daddy...

Cooking in Monkey Jammies - what could be better?!
Goodnight...

The brownies look good- if you're gonna eat the corner, can I have the center piece? ;)

TaTR: I will gladly give you the center piece, but you might have to fight my husband AND my daughter for it!!

Simply Life: I have been making brownies this way forever, but just recently started adding flavored applesauce. It's really a great way to add a little 'something' to plain box mix brownies and my kids LOVE to do it themselves.
