Hey Peeps...
As you all know by now, Tuesday's are CRAZY days for me and today was no exception. I left my house at 7:25 this morning (luckily my commute to work is about 4 minutes) and didn't walk back into it until 6:37 this evening. The girls and I were so hungry by that time so, as usual, it was a Tuesday night go to dinner.
But first - A recap of the day...
I sang a little song and did a little dance last night before bed to make the rain stay away this morning and IT WORKED! When my alarm went off at 5:35 this morning there was the sound of silence - which was AMAZING! It rained ALL DAY LONG yesterday. But the rain gods smiled upon me and held back for a few hours allowing me to run again. My body was so thankful and I even made it up this G-I-A-N-T hill that has been my achilles heel for months now. YAY!!! :) The run felt so good and shockingly - the more I do it the more I love it and the more my body misses it when I don't go. I guess that's a good thing. I got in a little over 2 miles before 6:30 am so I was happy.
Once I got ready and got to work it was time for breakfast...the usual - only one change. I added dried blueberries instead of cherries or craisins. Gotta spice things up a little bit.
As always, I had my Starbucks mug FULL of hazelnut coffee. That will NEVER change.
My work day was not as busy as the past few have been, but I was sure glad to take a minute to eat lunch when the time came. Like I said last night, I made my stand by sandwich for today and I made one for my friend, Michelle. She ate hers BEFORE lunch even got here and told me it was good. We'll wait and see if she leaves any comments telling us, in detail, how good...hint, hint, hint!
I have had a few people ask me what kind of bread I use and where I get it from so I took a picture of the empty bag (not to worry - I have two more loaves in the freezer)! I buy this at Whole Foods and so far it is, by far, my favorite bread.
The rest of the work day was nothing to write home about.
(or blog about for that matter)
I did have a small brownie thanks to the Special School District kids...
but after work I had to go run a very important errand. Linsey was a t dance class and regan was having a blast in her class so I snuck out for about an hour to hit one of my new favorite stores (fashion wise that is) H & M. My very favorite clothing store is the Gap, but I needed to spend very little money and that's where H & M comes in handy. They have some really cute things for VERY cheap.
Jason and I have a dinner function to go to Saturday night (minus the kids plus dressing up!) and I needed a new dress. I mean, who doesn't need a new dress? I found quite a few (for under $50), but these were my two favorites...
(don't ya love the socks?!)
I decided to go with the short, black one because I would have had to buy a new pair of shoes to go with the long one (and I would have loved to do that) but money is tight so I opted to go the less expensive route. I have an awesome pair of hot pink stelletos that will go great with the black dress and my good friend, Jennifer, is loaning me a knee length dressy coat to go with it. I'm all set! I got that dress AND a new dress shirt for Jason (he's lost some weight so his old ones are too baggy now) for under $65.
WOOT WOOT!
I hurried back to school to get Regan who (of course) was NOT ready to go yet. Then we hustled across town to get Linsey and flew BACK across town to get home. I asked the girls what they wanted to eat and without hesitation they both said, simultaneously, "Mac N Cheese & veggie nuggets". I agreed as long as I got to pick the vegetable. So here is my Tuesday night go-to dinner idea...
Take those three items, mix them together and you've got a yummy, healthy dinner.
I cook the whole wheat pasta for about 12 minutes and add the frozen broccoli florets during the last 5 to 7 minutes and then drain. Add the jar of Trader Joe's Alfredo sauce and mix. Just serve the Chik'N Nuggets on the side and your done. I have found (in my house anyway) that you can hide just about any vegetable known to man in a pot of cheesy pasta and kids will eat it. It's a win win dinner. See...
Now I'm going to call it a night. The girls are in bed and I'm heading that way myself - as soon as I make lunches for tomorrow. Jason should be home soon.
Goodnight...
